Went for a sunday walk with dad in Salthill, up around the back of what used to be called King's Hill, he showed me where he used to play as a kid, the exact spot actually, out behind the house where he grew up, we talked about people he knew growing up, showed me an old opus dei house with huge grounds out the back that I had never known about. He talked about one of his primary school teachers, who we happened to meet later when crossing the park, a sad story about a man who accidentally shot his father when coming in the front door of the house, an old friend he tried to track down who lived in Paris but who had since passed away, we also talked about mom and when they had us, he told me a funny story about a house down the road who's window would always break because it was right beside the park where they all played football, unfortunate to be the last house on the block..
it started raining out, we took shelter under the trees, that was when we met his schoolteacher, I can’t remember his name, we talked about old age, later we went to visit gran, we talked with her about her father, mother and grandfather, how she used to walk 2 miles cross country to get to school with no shoes, I wish i could have a proper chat with her about all of that, her ears aren't as good these days.
